Raising £10,000 for Help for Heroes
Today we announce the launch of Shire Heroes to recognise the brave sacrifice of our serving men and women in the Armed Forces, some of whom never return home and, of those who do, some who are severely injured, in the line of duty or, as they would say "just doing their job".
We are holding an Armed Forces Gala Ball on Friday, 28th October, 2011 at Franklin's Gardens, Northampton with an Auction and silent auction of pledges that "money can't buy" to raise £10,000. We seek support from business people, friends, colleagues and families across the county. Dig deep! Also Young Heroes between 10-16 years who can help with car washing, baking cakes, washing up for mum for a month etc.
Of course, there are always many calls from worthy causes and demands upon our money which is even more difficult during hard economic times.
Shire Heroes is a group of Northampton business people came together to make a pledge to raise £10,000 for Help for Heroes, Royal British Legion and Veteran's Aid.
We are seeking pledges and donations to help us raise this sum between now and 2012. We've already had pledges from an award winning chef to cook dinner for 4 and provide all the food, in your own home; a professional landscape gardener to spend a day working in your garden; and a free week's holiday in a Spanish apartment for 2 people (accommodation only).
Our Shire Heroes recognises all the serving men and women from families across the County; it also acknowledges all the serving members of the forces from every Shire in the country really. The real heroes.
