Take a look at yourself and then make a change...
That strength comes from within and you may say, "why employ a business coach?" Business coaches are not there to dictate or instruct, rather to observe comment and guide; it's then up to the individual to listen and take on board and interpret what they've heard, make a decision and put it into action, giving feedback at the next session. That's why the coach should and will often leave you alone for a while in between sessions so you have a chance to absorb, interpret, galvanise to action and to see the results so you can feedback something concrete.
Of course, a coach is there to galvanise, act as a catalyst and most importantly to become a friendly, impartial and above all professional mentor. He/she brings a wealth of experience, believes in you and what you have agreed is the correct course of action as well as to guide and counsel, particularly during challenging times.
There are many other situations that a coach becomes invaluable, if you are caught in a situation where you can't see the wood for the trees for instance fire fighting in the business, finding yourself over-pressurised by taking on too many challenges all at once etc, etc. A coach is also there to praise and their praise is all the sweeter because of the their life and business experience, their personality, emotional intelligence and intellect.
Above all, their learning at the University of Life. So while you might say "why do I need a coach if I have to do all the hard work?", you should really be asking yourself, "can I afford not to have a coach?" It's as fundamental to having a bank manager or an accountant and worth every penny of investment. A coach is there for the duration and should be afforded the respect due in line with having a Board of non-exec directors, experienced business people who you trust and who can keep the steady ship of the business on course. Of course it is all about 'right fit' and one coach does not suit all, you have to select one that will be firm and fair, but with whom you gel and feel a real synergy and therein lies the challenge. Once found though you can put in place the changes that will really help your business survive and prosper.
